Job description
The School of Psychology holds a Gold Athena SWAN award that recognises the work that it has done in supporting gender equality.
The School of Psychology is seeking to appoint a lecturer to undertake research in the area of educational or applied developmental psychology. The School runs a doctoral training programme in educational psychology and also has
a very active research group in the area of developmental psychology focusing in particular on cognitive development. The lecturer will be joining a thriving research environment with excellent facilities for conducting research with children, including a specialised developmental laboratory. We are seeking to appoint a lecturer who will contribute specialised undergraduate teaching, as well as providing research support to the educational psychology taught doctorate programme, supervising psychology trainee doctoral level research projects, and assisting the students in conducting research and publishing research findings. The post holder does not need to be a qualified educational psychologist, but a research interest in educationally relevant issues is essential.
Applicants must have an undergraduate honours or postgraduate degree in psychology or a closely related discipline. They must have or be about to obtain, a PhD in a relevant area of psychological research. (PhD must be completed at time of taking up post). They must have experience of teaching psychology to undergraduates and/or postgraduates, including lecture delivery and marking of assessments, within the last 4 years. They must have a research record in the area of educational or applied developmental psychology, and research interests that are sustainable and that complement and enhance existing research activities within the School.
