As we continue to expand our global reputation and reach, the University is seeking to appoint a Director of Public Engagement. The post holder will be a specialist advisor and will provide institutional oversight for the University on public engagement both nationally and internationally in support of the University’s corporate vision and ambitions.
Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, the post holder will have responsibility, as part of a senior team, for raising the profile of the University nationally and internationally. The role will direct the University’s high-level engagement, lobbying and advocacy initiatives with governments, business representative bodies and other major stakeholders, to meet the needs of the University. The post holder will be a key contributor in the delivery of the University’s Strategy 2030 and will have a particular focus on Social and Civic responsibility and economic prosperity, which is one of four strategic priorities.
The post will require an individual with substantial relevant senior level experience gained in a public engagement or related role at board or senior leadership/executive management level. The successful candidate will have a track record of networking and lobbying with a proven ability to establish, broker and build major strategic relationships with multiple external stakeholders and networks on national and international platforms.
THE MAIN TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
This role is a permanent position.
An attractive remuneration package, commensurate with the seniority and responsibilities of the role, will be provided.
The candidate will also be eligible to join the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).
It is hoped that the successful applicant will be able to take up the post of Director of Public Engagement as soon as possible, subject to existing contractural arrangements.
