The University is seeking to appoint an international leader in Health Economics. As Professor of Health Economics, the appointment will be based in the Centre for Public Health (CPH) in the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences (SMDBS) with a joint affiliation to the Economics Department in Queen’s Management School (QMS). The Centre for Public Health is a large multidisciplinary centre that conducts innovative population and health services research designed to improve public health, decrease the burden of chronic illness, and enhance the health-related quality of life of patients and families. Queen’s Management School has a growing reputation in Health Economics with an established research centre in CHARMS.
The Professor in Health Economics will have expertise in the evaluation of public health and health care interventions to take forward a programme of research and engagement aligned to iREACH (the Institute for Research Excellence in Clinical HealthCare) and the One Health agenda of the Global Innovation Institute, two of the central research pillars of the Belfast Regional City Deal. This appointee will work to increase capacity for world-leading collaborative research across the Faculties of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences (including the Institute for Global Food Security) and Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The appointee will also play a key role in the expansion of postgraduate teaching and research within SMDBS and QMS. The appointee will have the opportunity to negotiate a mutually agreed and flexible workplan to maximise these opportunities.
