Job description

As the Head of Public Engagement, you will be responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the Public Engagement team. You will promote the positive impact that Queen's makes on society, leading the team to coordinate and enhance public engagement across the University. You will work with key influencers, promoting the positive social impact of the University, and our staff and students regionally, nationally and internationally.
The post holder will report to the Director of Marketing, Recruitment, Communications and Internationalisation, work closely with the PVC Internationalisation and Engagement and be advised by the Public Engagement Committee. This is a high profile position in Queen's and Northern Ireland, providing an excellent opportunity to lead a talented, experienced team in development and delivery of a Public engagement strategy.
The successful candidate must have:
*
Honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in any subject.
*
Significant and relevant experience and achievements in a public engagement (or related) role.
*
Experience of developing public engagement strategy and project managing public engagement activities.
*
Experience of engaging in public affairs and/or community affairs or business engagement work in higher education.
*
A successful track record in sustained public engagement that delivered clear and measurable outcomes for both the public and the organisation.
*
Experience of managing professional and middle management staff.
*
Experience and evidence of networking with and influencing at a senior level to effect change.
*
Experience of relevant IT packages, including social media.
