Job description
The
$
USD1.2 millon
US-Ireland-Northern Ireland tripartite
project investigates innovative approaches for the reuse and recycling of decommissioned composite material wind turbine blades. This post holder will conduct advanced research to determine the residual mechanical properties of the blades, and conduct analysis for various designs of structures
using the materials from the blades.The research will be conducted through both advanced FE analysis considering wind load and loading histories, and experimental validation. Working within a large project team consisting of researchers and academic staff in areas ranging from fundamental mechanics to architecture, GIS and social sciences in four universities in US, Ireland and Northern Ireland plus industrial partners, the post holder is also expected to coordinate activities between the partners, manage a common file system and conduct tasks required relating to research and innovation,technology transfer, training and dissemination activities.
