Job description
Working 14.8 hours per week, this postdoctoral position is to work on the AHRC funded project "Immersion and Inclusive Music Performance" with a team of Queen's University staff and three external industry partners. The grant is led by Dr Franziska Schroeder (Sonic Arts Research Centre) with CI Dr Karen Rafferty (School of EECS). The proposal brings together
an interdisciplinary team: Queen's University, Drake Music Northern Ireland, Hard Rain Soloist Ensemble (HRSE), and immersive content designers BeAnotherLab, in order to create new knowledge and address challenges of the next generation of immersive experiences in the area of music performance and disability. The project aims to better understand and share experiences of young musicians affected by a physical disability using immersive, inclusive technologies (IIT).
The research will employ methods from practice-based research, the social sciences, and engineering to develop meaningful immersive experiences, which will further people's understanding of being a disabled young musician. This post involves field work/workshops, the design and delivery of music/sonic arts workshop sessions, using immersive technologies. The approach is based on co-production and participatory design work.
