Senior Research Fellow
Job description
The School of Nursing and Midwifery at QUB Belfast has achieved the highly prized position of being a 'Global Top Fifty' department in the 2018 QS World University Rankings. The School was ranked 7th in the UK for research intensity in 2014 UK REF Exercise and has internationally recognised research expertise in relation to two areas: Maternal and Child Health
and Chronic Illness and Palliative Care and developing expertise in relation to Education and Practice. Our research is funded by the NIHR, UKRI the World Health Organization, Horizon 2020 as well as leading international charities such as Marie Curie. Our research involves clinical partners and community stakeholders in co-designed studies to ensure our research impacts positively in healthcare and society and is widely cited in international clinical care guidelines relating to chronic illness and child health. We strive to create a vibrant and welcoming research culture that is relevant to improving health and well-being.
Are you an ambitious health services researcher looking for an exciting challenge? Are you interested in palliative and end of life care, and passionate about service-led innovation and research?
This new Senior Research Fellow post is funded by Marie Curie to support capacity building in palliative care and end of life research, particularly at the interface with primary care research. This post offers an exceptional opportunity to work between the School of Nursing and Midwifery at QUB and Marie Curie Hospice Belfast to lead the development of and facilitation of research in palliative care using the hospice as a recruitment site. The successful applicant will be supported by Marie Curie Belfast, be involved in the delivery of a portfolio of research projects, and also have the opportunity to lead the development of new research proposals and funding applications.
This post is ideally suited to an experienced post-doctoral researcher interested in health services innovation and quality, who enjoys the challenge and stimulation from working on a portfolio of activities in an exciting clinical and academic environment. The post offers an ideal platform for developing experience and building your CV, and encouragement will be given towards applying for a career development fellowship.
