Job description

Formed in 1990, MDE is a family owned and operated business, specialising in mechanical and electrical installations based across multiple sites, including Tyrone, Donegal, Monaghan and Glasgow. With over 30 years' experience, MDE's diverse portfolio ranges from utilities which include electricity, waste and clean water treatment plants, commercial, industrial, retail, education, healthcare, hotels, office accommodation, high-end residential and restoration/heritage schemes. Revenue is currently generated from the delivery of electrical contracting services for a select list of contractors. Our clients range from private clients to large blue chip companies. To date, MDE have successfully completed projects across the UK & Ireland, ranging in value from GBP 300,000 to GBP 1.5 million.
We wish to recruit a highly skilled and motivated graduate to work in MDE Installations in collaboration with Queen's University Belfast for 30 months. Through this Knowledge Transfer Partnership, MDE Installations seeks to implement and develop in-house BIM capability to add value to existing projects and generate new clients by reducing fragmentation on projects and identifying efficiencies. The postholder will be based in MDE in Omagh, Co. Tyrone.
The successful candidate must have:
Hold, or be about to obtain in July 2019, at least a 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Building Services Design, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction or a closely related discipline; Applicants with a 2.2 Honours degree (or equivalent) in addition to either one year's relevant practical experience or a related higher degree will also be considered.
Completion of a relevant student or industry project. Applicants should clearly state in their application why their project is relevant.
Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the M&E/ Building Services sector.
An understanding of BIM principles, processes, workflow and best practice.*
Experience in the use of BIM software (e.g. REVIT, Navisworks).*
Experience in writing technical reports/ training materials/ guidance documents.
