Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operation of the ACTIONED (integrAted moleCular soluTIons fOr diagNostics and Early Detection) project which is a consortium of three main partners - Precision Medicine Centre of Excellence at Queen's University Belfast, Roche Diagnostics Ltd and Sonrai Analytics Ltd.
You will be providing
high-level technical expertise and to be responsible for the co-ordination of multiple genomic and tissue-based technologies.
This is a fixed term position until 31 May 2023.
The successful candidate must have:
*
Academic or vocational qualifications (HNC/HND or higher (e.g. NVQ , degree or equivalent standard) in a relevant scientific subject e.g. Biomedical Science, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry
*
4 years' recent relevant hands-on experience within a Health Science laboratory that includes molecular pathology and genomics.
*
Experience in the discipline reflected in relevant involvement in academic, industry or research programmes
*
Ability to develop, troubleshoot and perform a range of technical duties to a very high standard
*
Significant experience with NGS in cancer specimens (FFPE, ctDNA, HMW)
*
Experience in a CPA/UKAS environment, including SOP development
*
Experience with tissue-based work and clinical samples for molecular analysis
The Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology (CCRCB) sits within the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences and the Precision Medicine Centre (PMC) is a new clinical laboratory bringing together high-throughput genomics, digital pathology and big data analytics in a fully integrated fashion. The PMC aims to accelerate the translation of potentially relevant diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic findings into clinically actionable information by applying state-of-the-art technology in a clinical laboratory environment. Our partnerships and collaborations with industry, academia and healthcare organisations maximises the potential to capitalise on the value of integrated clinical and biomarker information to improve patient's outcome.
The PMC operates within a structure of two core interconnected sections - Genomics and Tissue Hybridization & Digital Pathology, linked by a Bioinformatics team and supported by a dedicated management team. The PMC, working in partnership with the successful Northern Ireland Biobank (NIB), is integrated in an existing molecular programme honed by successful research grant funding investment of several million, infrastructure programmes and clinical trials.
