We are currently seeking a practice-focused Lecturer (Education) in Media Production to join the team delivering our BA Broadcast Production and MA Media and Broadcast Production programmes. The BA in Broadcast Production and MA in Media and Broadcast Production are intensely practical degree programmes, which also incorporate theoretical engagement with the history, theories and analysis of the media. This position is available on a 0.5 Part-Time basis.
Our Lecturer (Education) in Media Production will teach core practical modules at both BA and MA level related to photography, video recording, multimedia editing and project management. They will also have expertise in the planning and production of factual content such as television documentary or reporting. They will be able to supervise students in the use of both high-end professional equipment and 'back-pack' journalism setups. The successful candidate will be able to facilitate students in the production of 'as-live' video programming utilising our new flexible studio facilities, e.g. magazine-style programming for television/online platforms.
The appointee will supervise students to develop and plan independent and group projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, steering students towards reflective learning techniques.
The successful candidate must have:
Primary degree (at least 2:1) or higher taught degree in relevant discipline
Relevant professional/industry experience in broadcast media production, particularly in one or more of the following areas: television documentary, live television broadcasting, factual radio programming, radio drama, interactive media production, immersive media production.
Experience with industry standard video editing software such as AVID Media Composer / Adobe Premiere or equivalent.
