Lecturer in Endothelial Biology
Job description
The Centre for Experimental Medicine is an interdisciplinary research centre, which is committed to the highest quality scientific endeavour, with over 250 basic and clinical scientists working on site. Our mission is to understand the mechanisms of disease and use that understanding to develop innovative new treatments and therapies to improve patient
outcomes. The Centre is based in the award winning Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine.
The Centre provides an outstanding interdisciplinary and collegiality environment to answer major questions of human health by understanding the molecular mechanisms of disease. The Centre is an excellent hub for research on host-pathogen interactions, basic immunology, respiratory medicine and vision and vascular medicine; therefore, providing unique opportunities for fast track translation of discovery science into human health. The Centre has accessed to core facilities including bioinformatics and high computing, genomics (including single cell analysis), tissue culture, imaging and biological services.
We seek to recruit a Lecturer in Endothelial Biology whose research uses cutting-edge approaches to study microvascular biology and pathobiology. Although all areas of microvascular biology and disease will be considered, we are particularly seeking candidates who have primary interest in the molecular and cellular mechanisms of endothelial function including the cross-talk with other immune cells. We encourage applications from candidates with expertise in the use of novel in vitro model systems and in vivo imaging tools, and whose research interests will complement or broaden the Centres current research strengths in cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, ophthalmology, microbiology and immunology.
Candidates who have an interest in collaborating with both basic scientists and clinicians to explore the impact of the endothelial biology on human health and how to implement endothelial-based therapeutic approaches are especially encouraged to apply.
