Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) is a UK-wide programme that has been helping businesses for the past 40 years to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK Knowledge Base. Through the KTP programme we wish to recruit a suitably qualified to work in Almac Sciences on a collaborative project with Queen's over 29 months.
Almac Sciences is the chemical technology division of Almac Group and is a world leader in provision of contract chemistry, analytical services and supply of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) for their customers. Primary technology areas include: Analytical Services, Synthetic Chemistry, cGMP Manufacturing, Biocatalysis, Isotope Chemistry, Peptide Synthesis, and Physical Sciences. Almac Sciences' success and growth has been achieved by offering a diverse set of the very latest cutting edge technologies.
We wish to recruit a dynamic, highly skilled individual to work in Almac on a collaborative project with Queen's University Belfast over 29 months. This project will embed capability in flow chemistry, an innovative approach to chemical synthesis that is emerging from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Queen's University Belfast. The proposed programme will embed a highly innovative combination of chemo- and enzymatic catalysis under tandem flow conditions for the preparation of chiral amines from commercially available raw materials.
The successful candidate must have:
Hold a 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline
Experience and knowledge in organic chemistry and/or flow chemistry.
Demonstrable experience of practical organic chemistry.
