Queen’s University are seeking to recruit a Safety Manager to lead the University Safety Service. You will be working within a friendly team to ensure that the University has a safe work and study environment for our staff (4000), students (24,000), visitors and contractors.
Safety is of strategic importance to the operation of the Campus and in this role you will lead and develop a specialist, in house team, providing information, training and advice on all aspects of safety and will lead in the development and delivery of effective health and safety training, including delivery of IOSH accredited courses, student/staff induction, research and specialist health and safety seminars and other tailored training for staff and students.
You will develop Health and Safety Policies, monitor compliance with statutory legislation and you will encourage best practice in the area of health and safety. You should be able to evidence the development of Health & Safety policies and procedures ensuring compliance and updates that are able to respond swiftly to changing health and safety legislative requirements. These should follow recognised good practice guidelines in relation to health and safety matters and be complemented with an exemplary audit record. This role will also provide a great opportunity to review and develop the University’s Safety Strategy and Health and Safety Management Systems.

Our work ensures the conservation and enhancement of the University’s built heritage and the continued provision of a quality learning environment.
The University Safety Service is a key area within the Estates Directorate and is an operational unit within the University Safety, Estates Administration and Systems Division. This Division reports through the Director of Estates on all aspects of the University’s Safety governance performance to the President and Vice-Chancellor and through to Senate.
