Communications Officer for AHRC Research Initiative
Job description
Working remotely from any part of the UK the post holder will:
- Lead on developing and implementing the communication strategy for AHRC Modern Languages research with a particular emphasis on the Open World Research Initiative (OWRI), a flagship programme in Modern Languages with four major funded projects;
- Develop and co-ordinate communications on
behalf of the AHRC Modern Languages Leadership Fellow and OWRI projects, including the dissemination of new research findings;
- Generate media coverage about OWRI and Modern Languages research; maximise the impact and reach of social media; provide specialist advice on web and social media development, as well as the implementation of new online channels; commission new visual identity for OWRI through photography and video;
- Develop and maintain the OWRI website, contact database and associated communications activities;
- Develop and implement a media engagement strategy linked to OWRI and Modern Languages, building new media contacts with producers, correspondents and columnists;
- Lead on developing an effective and impactful internal communications approach for the OWRI projects, sharing successes, planned activities and creating an effective way of working and communicating across OWRI;
- Advise and provide professional communications support and training to members of the OWRI teams.
It is expected that the post holder will work remotely and will be required to travel frequently to meet with the Principal Investigators (PIs) of the four OWRI projects, which are based in Oxford, Cambridge, London and Manchester, and with the AHRC Modern Languages Leadership Fellow (based in Queen's, Belfast). There will also be travel for collaboration with OWRI partner institutions across the country and with the Communications and Literature and Languages teams at the AHRC in Swindon.
Although working remotely from any part of the UK, the postholder will be an employee of Queen's University Belfast and will be line-managed by the Leadership Fellow.
