The School of Mathematics & Physics at Queen’s University, Belfast is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate, to the post of Research Fellow to carry out research work in ultra-high intensity laser-matter interactions.
This research will be carried out as part of the EPSRC funded project – “The new intensity frontier: exploring quantum electrodynamic plasmas” under the supervision of Professor Gianluca Sarri, with emphasis on studying high-field quantum electrodynamics and the generation of extreme secondary particle and photon sources.
The successful candidate will join an established group, with a vibrant network of national and international collaborators working towards the design, execution, and analysis of a series of high-profile experimental campaigns at world-leading laser facilities and particle accelerators, including the Central Laser Facility and the Stanford Linear Accelerator.
This is truly an exciting opportunity, where the successful candidate will be part of a world class innovative and mission-led team, with responsibilities in independent research, planning and collaboration.
The post is initially for 24 months with the possibility of extending it for a further 12 months.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
