Job description
The specific role will be involved in research assisting the optimisation challenge of television media advertisement scheduling for a large media corporation (Channel 4) in which the optimisation is concentrated on multi-objective goals of Value (revenue) and Fairness (across all advertisers). The approach required must run in a practical time, allow
for last-minute (or daily) schedule runs and consider a wide range of exceptions and business logic. Current systems are not fit for purpose and the research is involved with improving and replacing these using novel research scheduling and optimisation techniques.
The Research Assistant will work closely with other researchers on this project and the commercial team to facilitate the goals of the project. They will also be responsible for disseminating the results of this work to the wider research community and assist in the work on the REF Impact Case Study as part of the overall project aims.
