Queen’s Management School seeks to appoint a Professor of Finance who will undertake research in line with the School’s research strategy, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contributing to School’s administration/outreach activity. There are at present 25 academic members within the Finance and Actuarial Science Subject Group. The Finance Subject Group has responsibility for two undergraduate degrees (BSc Finance and BSc Actuarial Science and Risk Management) and for three postgraduate degrees (MSc Finance, MSc Risk and Investment Management and MSc Quantitative Finance). All finance programmes are accredited or professionally recognised.
The research undertaken by members of the Finance Subject Group relates to three broad themes: (i) Financial markets and institutions over the long run; (ii) Not-for-profit financial institutions, particularly credit unions; and (iii) the microstructure of financial markets. Two of the four Research Centres within the Management School are headed by members of the Finance Subject Group (Professor John Turner - Queen's University Centre for Economic History, and Dr Declan French (Centre for Health Research at the Management School).
Teaching and research is aided by staff and students having access to Bloomberg terminals in the FinTrU Trading Room, a market leader of financial news, data and analytics. Teaching and Research is also supported with access to S&P Global, DataStream Advance, Thomson One Analytics, and the Financial Times Online.
The Finance Subject Group also runs the Queen’s Student Managed Fund (QSMF) which manages a real money investment portfolio of about £35,000.
