Job description
The School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is advertising two research posts in the area of programming languages, run-times and operating systems for data-intensive applications.
These temporary full-time posts are jointly-funded by three Horizon 2020 projects: VINEYARD, UniServer and OPRECOMP. These projects investigate
techniques and policies, implemented in operating systems, programming languages and runtime systems that control the trade-off between performance and energy-efficiency.
These positions are available immediately, one for 15 months and the other on a preliminary 6-month contract with potential extension depending on funding.
For one post, the ideal candidate will have experience in operating systems research and virtualisation with knowledge of the internals of Linux, KVM and Xen. For the other post, the ideal candidate will have experience in programming language implementation and user-level runtime systems.
The post holders will be members of the Queen's Global Research Institute of Electronics, Communication and Information Technology (ECIT). They will join a vibrant research group of 25 researchers at all career stages, underpinned by a GBP 10m research grant portfolio and a state of the art computing systems research facility. The post holders will have access to world class teaching and research facilities and opportunities to work with vibrant engineering and commercial teams to translate their research to impact
