Job description
About Queen's:
Queen's University Belfast is one of the leading universities in the UK and Ireland, with a distinguished heritage and history. With over 24,000 students, 3,700 staff and an annual turnover of some GBP 300m, Queen's University Belfast plays a unique leadership role in Northern Ireland. As a member of the Russell Group of UK research-intensive
universities, Queen's University Belfast combines excellence in research and education with a student centred ethos.
About the Post:
The Centre for Wireless Innovation at Queen's University Belfast is seeking to appoint one (1) Research Fellow for 17 months in order to carry out research on millimetre-wave massive MIMO techniques, as part of a project funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
The successful candidate will work closely to design theoretical and practical solutions to reduce the digital signal processing complexity, power consumption and RF circuitry/antennas for mm-wave massive MIMO configurations. The proposed solutions will leverage the hybrid processing paradigm, where a portion of digital processing will be performed in the analogue domain. At the end of the project, the research team will have built a unique energy-efficient, mm-wave massive MIMO demonstrator of minimum complexity. The candidate will join a vibrant research group of 60 people, including 13 academics. The candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the research activities of the new Queen's Global Research Institute on Electronics, Communications and Information Technology (ECIT-2).
Queen's University Belfast is a member of the Russell Group (the UK's leading research-intensive universities) and was ranked 8th (out of 154 UK Universities) in terms of Research Intensity in REF 2014.
We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sectors of the community particularly females who are currently under-represented in this area.
Full time Fixed Term for 17 months (extension possible pending approval from funder)
