Job description
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Queen's University Belfast, UK. The project 'Hex-PORTMAN: Heat Flux Splitting in Porous Materials for Thermal Management'' is funded by EPSRC, and is for a fixed-term of 24 months with a current funding end date of 30 April 2022. The aim
of the project is to combine high-fidelity computational modelling with experiments to revolutionize our fundamental understanding and predictive modelling capabilities for analysing turbulent heat transfer in porous materials for thermal management applications. You will be responsible for the development, running, and interpretation of CFD in OpenFOAM as part of a collaborative team. You should possess a PhD (or be near completion with thesis submitted) in engineering, physics, or applied mathematics, and have a background in turbulent CFD research (LES/DNS) and parallel computation with an interest in experimental studies.
The successful candidate must have:
Have or be about to obtain a relevant PhD.
At least 3 years' relevant research experience, including demonstrable
Experience in the area of Turbulent Flow Modelling and Heat Transfer.
Experience and competent user of CFD software.
Knowledge in studying flow in porous media systems.
