Research Fellow/Research Assistant
Job description
Short term research visits/internships are available for 3 to 6 months in Queen's Global Research Institute on Electronics, Communication and Information Technology (ECIT) to carry out research within the UniServer Horizon 2020 project (http://www.uniserver2020.eu/).
The UniServer project "A Universal Micro-server Ecosystem by Exceeding the Performance
and Energy Scaling Boundaries" focuses on exposing the intrinsic hardware heterogeneity caused by process variations and revealing it to system software for improving the power consumption or performance of many-core architectures within Edge and Cloud environments. The project in the past years have produced several results concerning the energy-efficiency and reliability of DRAMs and processors within commodity servers under various conditions and a system software stack (firmware to Hypervisor/OpenStack layers) for managing the revealed extended operating margins at the node and rack level.
