Reader/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Immunobiology
Job description
To strengthen the academic base within the Centre for Experimental Medicine, to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to contribute to School and Centre administration and outreach activity.
The research focus of this role will be on understanding the principles that govern host-pathogen interaction and immune homeostasis with a focus on
deciphering the molecular mechanisms that guide the induction of inflammation and anti-microbial immunity, and the factors that balance the immune response. We encourage applicants exploiting the power of in vivo models, and investigating fungal infections and/or bacterial pathogens as infection models. However, outstanding candidates in other areas of Immunology will be considered.
The Centre for Experimental Medicine provides an outstanding interdisciplinary and collegiality environment to answer major questions of human health by understanding the molecular mechanisms of disease. The Centre is an excellent hub for research on host-pathogen (viral and bacteria) interactions, basic immunology (innate immunity and cellular immunology), respiratory medicine and vision and vascular medicine; therefore providing unique opportunities for fast track translation of basic discoveries into human health. The Centre has accessed to core facilities including biosafety 2 and 3 laboratories, bioinformatics and high computing, genomics, imaging, flow cytometry and sorting, and biological services.
