Clinical Chair/Clinical Senior Lecturer in Cardiovascular Medicine
Job description
The Centre for Experimental Medicine is part of the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Science at QUB. The Centre provides an outstanding interdisciplinary and collegiality environment to answer major questions of human health by understanding the molecular mechanisms of disease. The Centre is an internationally recognized excellent hub
for research on respiratory medicine and critical care, ophthalmology, microvascular biology, basic immunology, and host-pathogen (viral and bacterial) interactions. This rich scientific environment provides unique opportunities for fast track translation of basic discoveries into human health, and to illuminate mechanisms in clinical research. The Centre has access to core facilities for discovery science and platforms to do clinical work. We have significant experience on clinical trials (from phase I to phase III), and on implementation of clinical outcomes.
The Clinical Chair/Senior Lecturer in Cardiovascular Medicine is part of a strategic expansion of the clinical academic base of cardiovascular medicine within the Centre for Experimental Medicine, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences at Queen's University Belfast (QUB) and will play a pivotal role bridging cardiovascular medicine and discovery science in partnership with the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT). The successful candidate will undertake research in line with the School's research strategy, teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, contribute to administration and outreach activity and deliver and enhance clinical service.
The clinical activities of the post will be within a cardiovascular specialty at the BHSCT and will involve Programmed Activities agreed through the annual, integrated job plan.
