The School of Arts, English and Languages at Queen's University Belfast is one of the most diverse in the British Isles and Ireland. With over 120 academic and support staff and over 1,300 students, the school offers a stimulating and professionally focused learning environment with strong links with industry. The BA in Broadcast Production and MA in Media and Broadcast Production are intensely practical degree programmes, which also incorporate theoretical engagement with the history, theories and analysis of the media. These industry-engaged and research-led programmes provide a well-rounded and flexible learning experience, which prepares graduates for the demands of a rapidly evolving workplace. Our cutting-edge facilities include a new adaptable television/video recording studio; several radio and audio production suites; the Film Studio; Queen's Film Theatre, the Brian Friel Theatre and the world-leading Sonic Lab. Our equipment store boasts a wide range of digital video and audio equipment, including 4K HD cameras, 360o cameras, Virtual Reality headsets. Our facilities and equipment have been designed and acquired in consultation with BBC Northern Ireland and other industry professionals.
The successful candidate will provide technical support for the flourishing Broadcast Production programmes. They will be based at the at the Sonic Arts Research Centre, a dynamic cross-disciplinary hub where practice and research in broadcast, sound design, audio production, music performance, and audio engineering meet and intersect. The candidate will manage cutting-edge facilities and equipment, and also help support the thriving public events at the School. They will work in a creative and innovative environment and with a team of technical specialists in other areas including music, film and drama.
This position is available on a full time basis for a period of twelve months.
The successful candidate must have:

Education to at least HND level, and/or professional equivalent in film/television, audio postproduction, or a related field
*
A minimum of four years' experience in providing technical or instructional support within an educational, arts or commercial media setting
*
Knowledge of video and photography technology including digital SLR cameras and broadcast cameras
*
Experience of setting up and maintaining a range of audio and video broadcast equipment in a TV studio environment
*
Demonstrable familiarity with video and audio editing software such as Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, and Pro Tools
*
Experience of troubleshooting equipment and resources related to broadcast technology and audio and video recording
*
Well-developed communication skills. Experience of training others in use of equipment and techniques in areas of expertise
