Job description
Applications are invited for a general technician within the School of Natural and Built Environment within Queen's University Belfast. This post is full-time for 2 years. The successful candidate will join our technical team in providing support to academic and research staff and students in our school's David Keir Building providing support for world
leading research and development in various areas of construction and environmental aspects. Specific prior knowledge of these exciting research topics is not required for this position as the School will provide you with the necessary support and training if required to help you step into this role and become a valued member of our staff.
The role will require you to work alongside senior technical staff who can guide you through specific tasks but also to work independently when required. These roles will mainly be in preparation of various forms of concrete, assembly of experimental apparatus, assisting students with test set ups and general lab work, fabrication and welding are desirable but not essential. This will require liaising with academic staff, students and other technicians from our own school and other schools within our faculty.
Applicants should hold either OND/ONC or NVQ3 in any discipline together with 2 years relevant working experience in either a research laboratory or workshop environment typically.
