Job description
The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research group based in The Centre for Experimental Medicine (CEM) and The School of Pharmacy. The CEM, based in the award winning Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, is an interdisciplinary research centre committed to the highest quality scientific endeavour, with over 250
basic and clinical scientists working on site. The School of Pharmacy has a global reputation for the quality and excellence of teaching and research programmes and has been consistently ranked as one of the leading Schools of Pharmacy in the United Kingdom.
We are recruiting for a Research Fellow who will be an active member of the Iabc-consortium (inhaled Antibiotics in Bronchiectasis and Cystic fibrosis:
https://www.imi.europa.eu/projects-results/project-factsheets/iabc
) which is developing new antibiotic treatment options for people with Cystic Fibrosis and Bronchiectasis. The successful candidate will develop molecular metagenomic methods for evaluating development of antimicrobial resistance following antibiotic treatment and determining activity of novel compounds against respiratory pathogens. Responsibilities will include assisting in the planning and delivery of this research so that the overall research objectives of the project are met.
The post is suited to a highly ambitious individual and is available until 31 August 2021 with the possibility of extension.
