The School of Mathematics & Physics at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate as postdoctoral researcher to work on the development and application of numerical radiative transfer simulations for the study of supernovae.
This will involve development work and carrying out simulations with our Monte Carlo radiative transfer codes (in collaboration with Dr. Stuart Sim) and working with Dr. Connor Ballance on incorporating the latest state-of-the-art atomic data into our models. The role will also involve collaboration (both internal and external to QUB) with supernovae observers and experts in hydrodynamical explosion modelling.

This is a fixed term post available until 31 March 2026. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
