Job description
A 12 month PDRA position is available in the group of Dr Marijana Blesic. The successful candidate will join an EPSRC-funded project on the development and application of innovative zwitterionic molecules. The focus of this appointment will be on the synthesis of novel zwitterionic materials, their physico-chemical characterisation, interpretation
of correlations between chemical structure, properties and effect on surface characteristics, and critical assessment of material performance in targeted applications, using a range of methodologies and techniques.
The project is positioned at the interface of chemistry, engineering, physics and biology, and the PDRA will be expected to liaise with a multidisciplinary team based in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, combining expertise in synthetic and physical chemistry, as well as materials science.
The PDRA will be based in The QUILL Research Centre, an established research centre for ionic liquids and other advanced liquid materials, located in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Queen's University Belfast. QUILL has very strong links with the industry, and a substantial track record in terms of both publications and patents. It currently associates fourteen academics (PIs) from eight countries, working across physics, chemistry and engineering, and hosts a number of PDRAs and postgraduate students from around the globe, providing a vibrant and truly international working environment.
