The School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering (CCE) at Queen’s University Belfast is seeking a Research Fellow in Carbohydrate Synthesis to work in the group of Dr Stephen Cochrane.
This post is funded by the EPSRC as part of a collaborative project entitled - “Interrogating the nisin:lipid interaction: a chemical biology approach”.
This collaborative chemical biology project aims to understand how key parts of the nisin and lipid II structures interact with each other and influence pore assembly and formation, and is in collaboration with the groups of Professor Alethea Tabor, Professor Stefan Howorka and Professor John Ward at UCL.
You will work on the total synthesis of novel lipid II analogues, which involves the synthesis of protected carbohydrate building blocks and solid-phase synthesis of peptide fragments.
