Job description
Queen's is in the top one percent of global universities and one of the largest employers in Belfast with over 24,000 students, 4,200 staff and an annual turnover of some GBP 300m.
The University has an ongoing requirement for Clerical Officers to support professional services in Schools and Departments across the organisation and maintains a Clerical Register
of suitable applicants to fill vacancies as and when they arise throughout the University.
At Queen's, a clerical role could involve supporting Schools to deliver teaching excellence or world leading research, or providing professional support to our Directorates. Roles could be as varied as supporting post graduate student courses in the School of Mathematics and Physics, or as part our HR Hub team helping to support our staff and deliver our People and Culture strategy.

The successful candidate must have:

A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) to include English Language and Mathematics or NVQ Level 2 Administration (or equivalent) *Please note that you must state your GCSEs or equivalencies. Higher qualifications such as a degree do not fulfil this requirement.
*
A minimum of two years (demonstrable) recent relevant work experience in an administrative environment to include evidence of the following:
* Maintaining databases and spreadsheets
* Producing general correspondence
* Experience of providing clerical/secretarial assistance in line with organisational procedures
* Dealing with customer queries
*
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and windows applications.

We currently have a large number of temporary posts (ranging from 6 - 24 months) in addition to permanent full and part-time opportunities, and particularly welcome applications from candidates interested in temporary posts.
Please note, if you are appointed to a temporary post you will have access to an internal redeployment portal 6 months before your contract end date to allow you to apply and be considered for suitable posts across the University.
All candidates who are shortlisted will be invited to complete a series of online skills assessment. A successful test result will be valid for 2 years from date of completion and candidates will not be required to undergo testing again during this period when applying for Grade 3 Clerical Register.
Candidates who failed interview in the last 6 months will not be eligible to apply for this exercise.
