The School of Mathematics & Physics at Queen’s University Belfast, is seeking an inspirational Senior Research Fellow in Integrated Photonic Fabrication to support the delivery of the UKRI Strength in Places Smart Nano NI programme.
The UKRI Smart Nano NI programme will see an investment of some £12M in capital, recurrent, research/technical staff and PhD studentships in the area of the Fellowship over the next five years. Allied to our existing facilities and programmes, such as the EPSRC-SFI Centre for Doctoral Training in Photonic Integration & Advanced Data Storage (www.cdt-piads.ac.uk) and the Belfast City Regional City Deal Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (https://www.brcd-innovation.co.uk/projects/amic) which will incorporate 600m2 photonics/electronics state-of-the-art cleanroom facility in 2024; which will provide the successful candidate a unique environment to establish themselves as a research leader.
We are looking for an experienced researcher with research interests aligned to photonics research strengths within the Smart Nano NI Programme and partners ranging from data storage through biomedical imaging/bio sensing to telecommunications. You will engage in impactful applied and translational research, establishing a world class research agenda in the area of photonics.
The School of Mathematics and Physics is consolidating its cognate research into a new Centre for Quantum Materials and Technologies that brings together world leading practitioners in functional and photonic materials, modelling and simulation and quantum technology and theory to provide a vibrant collaborative environment.
