The School of Psychology is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the field of animal welfare. The successful candidate will be a highly productive, ambitious and collaborative member of the School’s internationally recognised Animal Behaviour Centre, assisting in a range of studies designed to assess and improve animal well-being and to improve our understanding of the human-animal bond.
The researcher will be required to work in the School’s Animal Behaviour Centre lab, and in situ venues including zoos, farms and/or pet owners’ homes. The individual will be involved in developing research using a range of experimental models, collecting data, carrying out analyses, critical evaluations, and producing high quality research outputs. The Research Fellow will work closely with both their supervisor, team members, pet owners and the community at large.
This is a part-time (80%), fixed-term 18 month post due to commence on 1st November 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
