The School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering (CCE) at Queen’s University Belfast, is seeking a Research Fellow to assist in the development of materials and processes for ultrasensitive nitrogen sensors for real-time monitoring of water quality for a collaborative project with Dublin City (ROI) and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA).
This project is supported by National Science Foundation (NSF), Department for Economy (DfE) and Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) via the US-Ireland R&D partnership programme and the successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the research activity within this project so that the overall research objectives of the project are met.
The project will involve synthesis and characterisation of polymer or composite sorbents, evaluation of nitrogen species binding selectivity using a variety of analytical methods and the design of a sensing platform for implementation of the produced materials to the sensing of nitrogen species in water.

This is a fixed term contract for 3 years.
Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
