This is an exciting opportunity to join the Technical Team within the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The main purpose of the role is to provide technical support for teaching laboratories and the mechanical workshop and develop skills in the School glassblowing service. You will be required to use a variety of hand and power tools and carry out drilling, cutting and bending on a wide range of materials. You will assist the mechanical technician with servicing a variety of equipment. On site training will be given as required but particularly in the specialist area of scientific glassblowing techniques, making this a unique opportunity. You will be responsible for stock levels of materials and for keeping workshops and laboratories in a clean and ready condition. You will also assist in applying relevant Health and Safety regulations for anyone using these areas. Overall you will be part of an extensive technical team across the School and will work alongside other technicians in other areas, building up a diverse knowledge of the technical support needed to successfully support staff and students through their education and research work.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
