We are seeking to appoint an Electronics based technician to join our team on a 48 month contract or until 28 February 2025 whichever is soonest. This is an exciting opportunity to join a large team including specialist technicians in the School of Natural and Built Environment, delivering support to Education and Research through collaboration with Academia on a large variety of subjects using multiple types of equipment and sensors. This variety of work ensures a constant challenge at the same time as the rewarding aspect of helping shape the careers of researchers and students.
This position holds a good degree of responsibility as the main electronic support technical representative in the school but with that comes a good degree of autonomy and decision making, which can be extremely satisfying. There will also be the opportunity to expand your own knowledge and skills to coincide with the changing aspect of research, training will be arranged where necessary.
Work will be primarily based from the electronic workshop and delivered in laboratories in the school but there will be the need on occasions to accompany researchers on site visits to assess, set up and conduct tests. This activity is extremely interesting in that it gives a huge insight into the link between academia and industry and the importance of this work. Day to day this will involve prioritising and setting your own schedule as well as collaboration with other technical staff at times.
There is very strong sense of belonging within the school technical structure with an extremely good team spirit. We look forward to receiving your application.
